Dahlia Planting Instructions
The first step after receiving your dahlia tuber is to inspect it carefully. Dahlias grown from these tubers, which are essentially their root systems. For a dahlia tuber to successfully produce a plant, it must have three intact components: the tuber itself, a neck, and an eye. If any of these parts are broke or missing, the tuber will not grow.
Once the tuber has been inspected, it is important to pick a spot that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight. Dahlias require a lot of sunlight to thrive. Dig a hole about 4-6 inches deep, then lay the tuber horizontally in it with the eye facing up. After that, gently cover with soil.

To prevent root rot, don't water your dahlia plant until their first leaves emerge from the soil.
